The city of Toronto is the capital of the province of Ontario, southeastern Canada. With a population of over seven million citizens, it's the most populous city in Canada. It is a multicultural city, containing much diversity with over half of the population being minorities. The country's domineering financial and commercial center is located here. It is located on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario, which forms near the border between Canada and the United States.
Toronto earn its title as the financial center with having the headquarters of several banks located there and a dominant stock exchange involved with numerous metal mines being opened in Canada, to the north particularly. By the 1980s manufacturing jobs in Toronto had become more professional, and the main shift in the workforce was to service employment, which made Toronto a major financial, administration, real estate, insurance, educational,retailing, and tourist destination center. The city obtained national financial supremacy with housing five of the six national banks out of the country.
